Our Mission
Welcome!  Our mission is not only to just dance, we are also on a mission to develop and nurture an artistic community diverse in culture, racial, and economic backgrounds.  Our students of all ages interact with one another.  They are inspired by the beauty and grace of movement.  We strive to cultivate an artistic culture that flourishes and embodies all of this within the realm of dance. 

Lace it Up Dance Studio is nestled in the beautiful historic Germantown area.  The old Kendrick manufacturing building boast an artsy atmosphere, with an old world loft feel, beautiful hardwood floors and high ceilings.  The studio loft is about 1200 sq. ft. 

Cheryl has several talents.  Her background was finance, with a BA in Business Management, but she's been rooted in the arts, according to her mother, since age 3.  She danced ballet and played the piano as a child, then explored her second passion in Fine Arts.  But nothing was more rewarding and liberating than the art of dance, so she trained for years with one of the finest schools in Philadelphia.  She was later asked to sub a few classes, then offered the role as an instructor.  Cheryl danced tireless hours and hours, developing her style and attended several workshops with professional dancers from around the world.  Since Cheryl's passion had always been in the arts, she decided to lace up her strings and open her own dance and fitness studio.  Cheryl has been described as having an unique style and one who dances "from her soul", full of passion, light on her feet, fun and sassy, to name a few.  Her students love her ability to make everyone feel at ease.  But most of all, they boast about her patience and great teaching skills.      

Lace it Up Dance Studio became an experiment as a mobile dance company, traveling to corporate offices providing dance lessons for their employees.  Today, Lace It Up Dance Studio can be found in the historic neighborhood of Germantown.  


Lace it Up Dance Studio host a staff of talented dancers and certified trainers, with a combination of 25 years of experience as instructors, trainers, performance and social style dance.  The staff was trained by the best: University of the Arts, Alchemy Dance Company, The Annenberg Center for Performing Arts, and Salseros International Dance Company.  The staff has danced and traveled from state to state.
